    Operates various power driven machinery, which are used to move dirt or other materials. May operate all or some of the following types of equipment; backhoe, bulldozer, crane, dragline, front-end loader, motor grader, cherry picker, dump truck, etc.


    • Move hand and foot levers to control diesel, electric, gasoline or steam-powered operating equipment;
    • Interpret hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed;
    • Read and interpret load charts and check them against lifting capacities in order to prevent overload;
    • May assemble or disassemble equipment or material on construction projects;
    • May be required to manipulate equipment on unleveled working surfaces;
    • May perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing and oiling machines/equipment.
    • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
    • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving equipment.
    • Using hand and arm signals for installing, handling, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
    • Other duties as assigned.



    • A minimum of five years verifiable heavy equipment/crane operator experience.
    • Effective writing and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate in all directions within the organization.
    • Exhibits highly developed conflict resolution skills.
    • Analyze information and chooses the best solutions and evaluates results.
    • Demonstrated teamwork capability and can-do attitude.


    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Clean Driving Record.
    • Five years or more of verifiable crane operating experience.
    • Aerial lift, forklift, and HazMat training
    • Heavy equipment license or commercial driver’s license preferred
    • Must possess an unexpired TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card.


    • Certified by CIC, NCCO or NCCER as a crane operator.
    • Aerial Lift/Manlift Certification
    • Heavy Equipment License or Commercial Driver’s License
    • Fork lift certification
    • Unexpired HazMat Training


    • Ability to wear/use any personal protective equipment provided by employer.
    • Must be able to drive and sit for an extended period of time while transporting hazardous materials.
    • Must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
    • The ability to walk, bend, reach, push, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary, to perform    vehicle inspections.
    • The ability to walk, bend, reach, push, stoop, squat, as well as grasp, lift, and handle heavy equipment as necessary, to ensure safety during the hooking and dropping processes of tractor/trailer combinations.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Maintain mental capacity, which permits quickly making sound decisions and using good judgment, and demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
    • Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed. 


    Applicants selected will be subject to a background investigation and will need to possess a valid TWIC card. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and job appropriate medical testing.
