  • Overview




    This position is responsible for, but not limited to performing accounting duties associated with Refinery and Terminal operations.  Provide financial leadership to refining and terminal business units in areas of administering and interpreting accounting principles, including month end closing and account reconciliation, final review cost reporting and other duties and special reporting as may be required.  This position will have contact with a variety of position levels, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.



    • Responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on the performance of assigned projects.
    • Analyzes, records and maintains accounting records related to transactions including fixed asset accounting.
    • Intercompany accounting – process intercompany transactions related to multiple entities
    • Identifies and resolves discrepancies rated to general accounting processes.
    • Support monthly financial close process.
    • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
    • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
    • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
    • Document financial transactions by entering account information.
    • Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
    • Preparation of schedules for monthly/quarterly reporting packages.
    • Preparation of data requests for other departments.
    • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    • B.S. degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a concentration in accounting.
    • 7 + years demonstrated experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles or a combination of experience and education.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Accounting Theory with thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, financial statements, reports ledgers and journals.
    • Must be able to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statement, projections, recasts and budgets.
    • Project Accounting Experience.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word software application skills.
    • SAP or Oracle experience.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Must have knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
    • Must have knowledge of federal and local financial regulations.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license.
    • TWIC card, required.  

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work performed is in a high paced, high volume environment and requires some driving and a lot of walking to and from various offices within the same building to obtain information needed.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, speak and listen. The position also requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
