    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    The person in this position is responsible for providing nursing care for an on-site occupational health care facility that provides a wide range of services to multiple clients in a large industrial setting.

    Responsibilities

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Provide direct care to clients within the scope of the USVI Nurse Practice Act, standing orders and established protocols 24/7.
    • Conduct medical surveillance programs based on clients’ needs to meet regulations with OSHA, NFPA and USCG as well as company policies for fit for duty evaluations.
    • Administer and conduct drug and alcohol testing as per Drug Free Workplace Program, meeting company policy and DOT requirements.
    • Manage and maintain medical records to comply with confidentiality standards, HIPPA and OSHA regulations.
    • Maintain license and certification requirements to provide optimal level of care.
    • Provide clients with case management to assure appropriate medical care and return to work through USVI Worker’s Compensation, Longshoremen & Harbor Workers Compensation and Jones Act.
    • Provide absence management following company policy, union contracts, ADA and FMLA guidelines.
    • Conduct tasks in a professional and effective manner and within legal, ethical and moral stands of care.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    • An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
    • Ten (10) years of experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.
    • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the US Virgin Islands.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word required.
    • Working knowledge of Koko Spirometry, HT Wizard Audiometry and Fit Plus preferred.
    • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface effectively.
    • Must be certified in First Aid, CPR & AED.
    • Must posses a valid TWIC card.
    • The following certifications are preferred but must be successfully obtained within the duration of period established by employer.
      • Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S) by American Board of Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN).
      • Pulmonary Function and Fit Testing by National Institute for Occupational Safety And Health (NIOSH).
      • Occupational Health Conservationist (COHC) by the Council for Accreditation of Occupational Hearing Conversation (CAOHC).
      • Collector Qualification for drug and alcohol by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
      • Blood Borne Pathogen.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment comes along with complexities and major responsibilities. It is a challenging vocation that demands versatility and alertness.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical effort involving above-average standing, sitting, walking, lifting, bending, detail work and driving. Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs and lift/carry up to 20 lbs on an occasional basis.  Must be able to work weekends, holidays and nights as needed to meet facility requirements.
