  • Overview




    The person in this role will assist with warehouse material functions to include ordering, tracking shipments, unloading, and managing inventory, etc.


    • Provide support to procurement team to ensure on-time delivery of contracted goods and services.
    • Communicate material issues to stakeholders in a timely manner to permit timely decision making regarding work-arounds, etc.
    • Keep detailed notes regarding purchase orders explaining results of contacts with suppliers.
    • Review vendor export documents to confirm compliance with agency regulations and standards.
    • Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
    • Compare suppliers' bills with bids and purchase orders to verify accuracy.
    • Check shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specifications.
    • Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
    • Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessary.
    • Calculate costs of orders, and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts.
    • Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
    • Track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders.
    • Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
    • Provide warehouse support to resolve receiving issues, etc.
    • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision.



    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 8 years purchase expediting and/or warehouse experience in a petrochemical or similar industry, preferred.
    • Current forklift license, preferred.
    • Proficiency in inventory software, databases and systems.
    • Maintain knowledge of all organizational and governmental rules affecting purchases, and provide information about these rules to organization staff members and to vendors.
    • Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
    • Ability to develop and maintain strong vendor and carrier relationships.
    • Good organizational and time management skills.
    • Must be able to work weekends, all shifts and overtime as required.
    • Valid TWIC Card and driver’s license is required.


    • Candidates must be able to work long hours and all shift schedules that may require up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week for extended durations.
    • Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses, etc.
    • Work is performed while standing, sitting, walking and or driving.
    • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
    • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
    • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
    • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull items up to 75 pounds.
    • May require activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
