     Candidate will be responsible for installing new machines or heavy equipment, dismantling and installing machines or heavy equipment when changes in the plant layout are required.

    Responsibilities

    • Planning and laying out work.
    • Interpreting blueprints or other specifications using a variety of hand tools and rigging.
    • Making standard shop computations relating to stresses, strength of materials and centers of gravity.
    • Aligning and balancing equipment, selecting standard tools, equipment and parts to be used.
    • Installing and maintaining in good order power transmission equipment such as drives and speed reducers.
    • Installs machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishment, using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools: Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
    • Dismantles machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
    • Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
    • Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools.
    • Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials, such as wood, cement, and steel.
    • Aligns machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
    • Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
    • May operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
    • May repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
    • May perform installation and maintenance work as part of team of skilled trades workers.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent, vocational training/college preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years related experience.
    • NCCER Certified, preferred.
    • Must be able to communicate with supervisors and fellow employees.
    • Must have troubleshooting skills to help supervision determine solutions to job site problems.
    • Must be familiar with Company, Client, and Federal safety/health procedures and will demonstrate support of them by compliance.
    • Must be able to work night shift including day shift (all shifts) as well as holidays and weekends.
    • Must follow set procedures and standards.
    • Ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
    • Valid TWIC card required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Candidates must be able to work long hours and all shift schedules that may require up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week for extended durations.
    • Candidates also must be able to work in confined spaces and be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolds, and working at heights.
    • Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses, etc.
    • Respiratory Protection Fit-Testing and Pulmonary Function Testing is required.  Additional medical examinations, such as Fitness for Duty exams may be required per client guidelines.
    • Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful.
    • Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, unassisted.
    • Good manual dexterity for the use of common hand tools, power tools and the ability to navigate around obstacles in a petrochemical environment is necessary.

     

    Applicants selected will be subject to a background check. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment, drug and alcohol testing and job-specific medical testing.
