Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and other electric components in accordance with relevant codes and standards regulated by state or territory laws.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair electrical components, such as transformers, circuit breakers, motor starters, switches, light fixtures, etc.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning electronic and/or electrical systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Follow state and local building codes and regulations based on the National Electric Code.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other electrical components.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using a variety of tools, equipment, measuring and testing devices (i.e. ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps) to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years or more electrical experience in a petrochemical, terminal storage, or other industrial environment.
  • Completion of approved electrician apprenticeship program or vocational/technical training preferred.
  • Knowledge of cathodic protection systems (PM & Reparis
  • Electrician's license a plus.
  • NCCER Electrical Certification, preferred.
  • Must have impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and/or as part of a team.
  • Must be reliable with great work ethic.
  • Able to perform duties within the trade, maintaining high standards in both safety and quality.
  • Must be able to read and understand P&IDs, engineering drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Valid, unexpired TWIC Card.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overtime and various shifts as needed to meet facility requirements.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolds, and working at heights.
  • Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses, etc.
  • Respiratory Protection Fit-Testing and Pulmonary Function Testing is required.  Additional medical examinations, such as a fitness for duty exam may be required.
  • Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, unassisted.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of common hand and power tools.

Applicants selected will be subject to a background check. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment, drug and alcohol testing and job-appropriate medical testing.
